Every volunteer plays an important role in creating an unforgettable experience for the thousands of guests who attend Carolina BalloonFest each year. From greeting visitors to helping keep the event running smoothly, your time and dedication make a lasting impact.

As one of Iredell County's premier events, Carolina BalloonFest relies on volunteers who are passionate about serving their community and helping create a safe, welcoming, and memorable festival for all. Whether you're looking to give back, earn volunteer hours, support a nonprofit, or simply be part of something special, we'd love to have you on our team.

BALLOON CREW VOLUNTEERS

Want to be part of a balloon crew? Crew volunteers work directly with hot air balloon pilots and assist with tasks such as balloon inflation, launch preparations, retrieval, and pack-up. This unique opportunity offers an up-close look at the world of hot air ballooning while supporting our pilots throughout the festival. No previous experience is necessary—pilots will provide guidance and instructions. If you're interested in becoming a crew volunteer, complete the crew volunteer application, and we'll work to match you with a participating pilot based on availability.

GENERAL VOLUNTEERS

General volunteer applications are now open! We welcome individuals who are interested in being part of the Carolina BalloonFest team. Volunteer needs vary each year based on event operations and participation, so submitting an application does not guarantee placement. If we have an available role that matches your interests and availability, a member of our volunteer team will contact you with next steps. We appreciate your willingness to help make Carolina BalloonFest a success!

Volunteer FAQs

  • Carolina BalloonFest, operated by National Balloon Rally Charities, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Each year, a portion of our proceeds are donated back to the community. Be apart of this fantastic organization and give back to our local community! 

  • Shifts typically last 4 hours.

  • The Carolina BalloonFest would not be possible without are many volunteers. To show our thanks, volunteers receive free parking and admission to the BalloonFest after their four-hour shift. Volunteers that register by September 31 with their t-shirt size, receive a Carolina BalloonFest Volunteer T-shirt. 

  • Volunteer must be at least 18 years and older.

  • Carolina BalloonFest appreciates any individual's willingness to volunteer for our charity. We ask that first-time volunteers and even returning volunteers, attend our Volunteer Training Day. Email volunteer@carolinaballoonfest.com for more details.
