"Land Of Oz" Commemorative Launch & media event is scheduled Friday AM from historic flight location and select school & sponsor locations in the Statesville community.
Media outlets are encouraged to participate in BalloonFest's first flight and conduct remote broadcasts from the ground or inside the gondola - limited flights are available! Submit credential information below to reserve your place in a gondola, feature students learning about hot air balloons or spotlight Teacher & Principal award winners at one of our schools. Approximately 15 pilots will participate in our first flight event of the weekend! We'll help you get connected to the locations! |
About Media Credentials. We appreciate your interest in 2014 Carolina BalloonFest. Festival credentials will be granted to accredited organizations and individuals with outstanding reach and audiences. Our festival media packet includes reserved parking and admission to the festival.
Event Information. Our 'Fest' began over 40 years ago as the Balloon 'Rally' and is well-renowned as the second oldest hot air balloon festival in the United States. Located in the Southeast, our Carolina blue skies offer a magnificent backdrop to over 50 majestic hot air balloons each 3rd weekend of October in Statesville, NC. Visit our History Gallery.
Tens of thousands of spectators are attracted to our 3-day festival at the Statesville Regional Airport. Our grassy bowl and launch field is filled with live entertainment, a kids play zone, great festival food, North Carolina wines & craft beers and local/regional artists. Balloon pilots and crews gather from around the country to participate in Carolina BalloonFest. Professional photographers, local and regional media coverage is anticipated each year.

Rain or Shine... Carolina BalloonFest is open October 20-22, 2023!
Hot Air Balloon Flights are scheduled twice daily; early morning & late afternoon. All ballooning activities (including static display, tethered rides and balloon flights) and skydiving exhibition are weather-dependent. The decision to inflate hot air balloons is made just prior to the scheduled ballooning activity. Please note that due to the popularity of our festival, our admissions booths will close when we reach maximum capacity. This is a decision out of our control and made by local law enforcement. Tickets are non-refundable. National Balloon Rally Charities, Inc. is a nonprofit that donates a portion of our festival proceeds to other local nonprofits and surrounding community agencies. |

Festival Location is near Statesville Regional Airport at 260 Hangar Drive, Statesville, NC 28677. Pre-purchased parking will be available on site and free parking will be available at Troutman park and ride. NO ROADSIDE PARKING - vehicles will be towed where NO PARKING signs are posted. Walk in spectators will not be admitted. Ticket scanning will be in progress.
