Special shaped balloons are always a crowd favorite and this year will be no exception. Coming to Carolina BallonFest are some shapes that will teach you, entertain you, and bring big smiles to your faces.

"Eddie and Rickenbacker" is a salute to the history of aviation. Its name honors World War I ace fighter Eddie Rickenbacker. Check out a bio on him. Bringing the kids to Carolina BalloonFest? It will be a great opportunity to give them a fun history lesson they will never forget. Not bringing the kids? Go ahead and impress your friends with your great knowledge.

Pilot Andy Cayton is quite an interesting aviator himself. Currently he is in Europe after competing in the Gordon Bennett FAI World Long Distance Gas Balloon Championships. Pairs of pilots fly for days (and nights) to see who can go the longest distance. They launched September 19th and most pilots are down (including all three USA teams), but what an adventure it is. You can watch the end of the action and learn more about the event here. http://gordonbennett.aero

Daryl Tatum will be bringing his balloon freedom to join the crowd. Freedom is a bald eagle....now that could lead to both a science lesson for the kids. Or adults. We'll enjoy seeing freedom soar above the crowds.

While all balloons are special, we feel lucky to showcase some of these special shaped balloons. We look forward to hearing which you'll be looking ho see....and which one grasps your attention the most in reality.

Rain or Shine... Carolina BalloonFest is open October 15-17, 2021!
Hot Air Balloon Flights are scheduled twice daily; early morning & late afternoon. All ballooning activities including static display, tethered rides and balloon flights are weather-dependent.  The decision to inflate hot air balloons is made just prior to the scheduled ballooning activity.  Please note that due to the popularity of our festival, our admissions booths will close when we reach maximum capacity. This is a decision out of our control and made by local law enforcement.  Tickets are non-refundable. National Balloon Rally Charities donates a portion of our festival proceeds to other local nonprofits and surrounding community agencies.
